Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan

Oregon City's Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan (NHMP) is a comprehensive look at the risks to life,                                                                                  proNatural Hazard Mitigation Plan Cover Pageperty and the environment caused from natural hazards such as landslides, earthquakes, and wildfires that can affect Oregon City and surrounding areas.  It provides a set of goals, action items, and resources designed to reduce risk from future natural disaster events. The process of developing a mitigation plan can also forge new partnerships among community organizations, businesses, and local citizens. These partnerships can lead to the development and implementation of risk reduction strategies that assist the community in reducing losses from any future natural disaster events.

Oregon City's Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan (NHMP) is updated every five years in partnership and in cooperation with the University of Oregon’s Institute for Policy Research and Engagement - Oregon Partnership for Disaster Resilience and the Oregon Department of Emergency Management (OEM), utilizing funds obtained from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.
